Fall/Spring Class Descriptions
Combo 1: A 45-minute creative movement class for preschoolers learning the basics of ballet and tap. Ages 3-4
Combo 2: Similar to Combo I in format, this class expands the young dancer's vocabulary and steps in ballet and tap. Ages 4-5
Combo 3:
A 45-minute combination of ballet and tap with emphasis on rhythm and coordination. Ages 5-6
Combo 4:
An hour-long combination class of ballet and tap with emphasis on placement, musicality and choreography. Ages 6-7
Ballet:
An artistic dance characterized by grace and precision of movement.
The elaborate and formal technique is the foundation of all dance training.
Ballet 1 Beginner
Level 1A ages 7-9

Pre-Pointe
An extension of ballet for intermediate to advanced dancers who are training to go on pointe shoes. For the safety of their ankles and growth plates in their feet, students must have teacher approval to be enrolled in pre-pointe.
Must be taken with two Ballet 3, Ballet 4 or Ballet 5 classes weekly, depending on level.
Tap:
Presents various sounds and rhythms made by the feet with emphasis on timing.

Jazz:
Stylized theatrical dancing based on many other forms of dance and influenced by American jazz music.

DRESS CODE
Proper dress for dance class is extremely important as teachers need to be able to see a dancer's body in order to give corrections.
Combo Classes:
Solid colored leotard (attached skirt is ok)
Pink tights
Skirt (optional)
Pink ballet shoes (leather)
Black tap shoes (no laces please)
Dance Bag would be helpful to carry shoes
Ballet Classes (Level I - IV classes):
Solid colored leotard

Mini Jazz, Jazz/Hip Hop & Jazz Classes (Level I - IV classes):
Solid colored leotard

All shoes, including ballet shoes, should be black
Students should have their hair neatly secured, away from their face and off of the neck at all times. Please label all dance attire and shoes with your child's name.
Dancewear for all levels of classes can be purchased at Turning Pointe in August only. If you need dancewear throughout the year, please visit our friends at Spotlight Dancewear. They are located in the Barnes & Noble Shopping Center in Lewisville. 972-459-5556
ANNUAL PERFORMANCE
Turning Pointe Dance Studio holds an annual themed recital in June. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience stage performance while showing family and friends what they have accomplished with all of their hard work throughout the year. Performing is optional, but strongly encouraged.
There are two non-refundable fees associated with the Spring Recital: Costume Fee and Recital Fee. The Costume Fee will be charged in November. Costumes range from $60-75 each and include all accessories and a brand new pair of tights.
The Recital Fee will be charged in March. The Recital Fee helps cover the cost of the production (theatre rental, backdrop, Keepsake programs, trophies, etc.) so the show will be free for your family and friends to attend.
DANCE COMPANY
Turning Pointe offers additional training and performance opportunities through our dance
company. Dancers ages 7 and up interested in broadening their dance and performance training will love the opportunities that our company offers. Auditions will be held for placement and all dancers who participate are strongly encouraged to be enrolled in ballet, tap and jazz classes.
Dance Company members will attend a weekly rehearsal class in addition to their technique classes. Members will have the opportunity to attend three dance conventions, one competition and several community performances.
Our 2006-2007 Dance Company had the privilege of performing in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Pre-Game and Half-Time Show and at The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND RATES
Turning Pointe is EXPANDING our YOGA Program! Due to popularity, we now offer 6 class times for your convenience!
What Kind of Yoga Is It?
We specialize in Vinyasa Yoga. Vinyasa means to flow. All Yoga classes are open to all levels from beginner to expert and modifications will be given in class. Please bring a Yoga mat and a water bottle to class.
Power Yoga
Energizing cardio workout that will improve flexibility, muscle tone, posture and endurance.
Yoga with weights
Get ready to sweat! This class will strengthen, lengthen, tighten and tone from head to toe. Please bring hand weights. Beginners 1 - 2lbs. Experienced yogies 3 - 5lbs.
Mother/Daughter Yoga
Come experience the great benefits of Yoga with your child! We will improve self-esteem, posture, balance and flexibility all while having fun. Basic Yoga exercises will be taught using games, music and story telling. Children must be at least 7 years old.

A non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment for every student.
The fee is $30 per student or $50 per family. A valid credit card number or checking account number will also be required to set up automatic payments for monthly tuition in order for enrollment to be confirmed. It is understood that enrollment is from Mid August - May.

SUMMER PRICING: Rates are the same for the summer sessions however there is no registration fee for classes or camps. Summer 1 is from June 14-July 3 and Summer 2 is from July 12-July 31. Tuition will be charged on June 1st for Summer 1 classes and July 1st for Summer 2 classes. You may register for Summer 1, Summer 2 or both.
Tuition is automatically debited from your checking account, debit or credit card on the 1st of each month.
Monthly tuition has been set based on the number of classes scheduled from September - June. Therefore, it does not vary based on the specific classes each month.
There is a 20% discount for immediate families enrolled in classes. The child taking the most classes will be charged the full rate. The discount will apply to any additional children in the immediate family.
There is a 5% discount when tuition is paid by the semester. (Sept - Dec and Jan - Jun)
PRIVATE LESSONS
Students who are interested in polishing their technique may opt for private lessons.
1 - 3 lessons = $50/hour
4 - 6 lessons = $45/hour
7 - 10 lessons = $40/hour
10+ lessons = $35/hour
CHOREOGRAPHY RATES
Students who are interested in competing may enlist the help of one of our instructors to choreograph the routine in the student's desired style. All choreography will be age appropriate and will be set to music with appropriate lyrics. Student, parent and choreographer must choose the performance costume together which should be tasteful as the student will be representing Turning Pointe at the competition.
$250 for a solo, duet or trio
Rate includes choreography and 4 private lessons to teach and polish the routine.
Students may request more practice time which will be available at the private lesson rate.
